P          S3 Girls

If you see yourself as an engineer of the future or have never considered engineering as a career option before, but want to find out more about it, then the Engineering the Future for girls’ week at the University of Strathclyde is just for you.

Engineering the Future for Girls is being delivered in collaboration with BP and BAM Nuttall and is designed to engage girls in a wide range of engineering challenges that will inspire them to become the next generation of engineers. The summer school is fully-funded by BP and BAM Nuttall and student costs, including a contribution towards travel, will be covered.

The summer school is non-residential and therefore pupils should be able to make their way each day to the University of Strathclyde campus in the heart of Glasgow City Centre.

Pupils should apply at http://www.strath.ac.uk/engineering/outreach/engineeringthefutureforgirls using the online application form. The deadline for applications is 3 December 2017.

 P          Christmas Fair

We are organising a Christmas Fair, which will take place on Saturday, 2nd December 2017, 10 am – 2 pm.  There will be lots of Christmas stalls and activities.  Tickets cost £2 and are on sale from the School Office, which includes tea/coffee/juice and a cake.  There will be free entry for children under 12.  If you have any ideas about how to make the event a great success, please let us know.  All money raised will go to the Lesmahagow High School Fund, which is used to support activities and events for our pupils.

The Fairtrade Club meets every Tuesday lunchtime in Mr Sharp`s Art room, B112 at 1:30 and runs a tuck shop selling Fairtrade goods to pupils in the street during Wednesday interval and to the teachers during Wednesday lunchtimes. P          EMA – S5/6

EMA application forms can be collected from Miss Lee or downloaded from the South Lanarkshire Council website. On the Council website, click on ‘Education and Learning’, then ‘Secondary School Information’, then ‘Education Maintenance Allowance’.  If you need any help with this, please see Miss Lee.

It is your responsibility to complete and send the application form.

When you receive an award letter with your EMA number on it, bring this to Miss Lee who will then issue a copy of the Learning Agreement to be signed by your teachers and Parent/Guardian.  You should then return the completed Learning Agreement to Miss Lee and the school office will then process your EMA.

Only when you have completed all of the above will the payment process begin.  Please see Miss Lee if you have any questions about EMA.
